Every Curse a Blessing

"He turned the intended curse into a blessing because the Lord your God loves you." Deut. 23:5

Dear Christian, every single evil thing that comes your way, every difficult life situation, every cloud of darkness, every wound -yes all of those things, God intends to use for your good.

That's hard to believe, because I look around and see the negative effects of life's worst situations on people I meet. Bitterness, hatred, distrust, self harm, suicide, hopelessness, loneliness....

Is it possible to be hit with something awful and not be affected?
I don't think so. Get hit by a freight train, and your body will never look the same again. Get wounded with someone's words or actions, and your soul will never look the same again either....

It's unavoidable.

By the end of our lives, our souls are covered in scars from the hurts people have dealt us. So how can God turn a curse into a blessing? Is this even possible? Yes.

Let's turn to a scarred body, whose wounds were the most traumatic one could imagine.
His name is Jesus. Look at His hands and feet and imagine with me what it must have felt to have nails piercing through the skin, then the bone, nailing Him to a wooden cross. The helplessness he must have felt. The hopelessness as He realized His Father had forsaken Him. The pain racking His body.

He suffered it alone. Nobody was experiencing the pain with Him. It was more than just the nails that pierced Him, the crown of thorns piercing His brow, the shame of hanging there, dying before a watching world. It was being forsaken, it was rejection, it was loneliness... It was being punished for sin He didn't commit... It was unjust. It was harsh. It was cruel....

He shouldn't have had to go through that. Those were my sins and yours He suffered for.

Yet more amazing than that, when He rose from the dead, He kept the scars. ...Would you have done that?

So His body doesn't look the same either.... He's got scars that constantly remind Him of the trauma He experienced... He understands your pain like you wouldn't believe.

What's the difference between His scars and mine?
God brought His own Son back to life again after His awful death. Do you know, He wants to do the same in you? He wants to take your difficult situation and turn it around for good. He wants to breathe His life into your dying soul, and give you comfort like you've never known.

But you have to let Him. Because He's the only one who can turn a curse into a blessing.

Go to Him and pour out your heart to Him. Open up your hands and let go of your pain. Let Him touch you and heal you. That's what He wants to do...

He wants to give you His peace, His love, His joy, His comfort, His companionship, His grace, His power... and so many more blessings! Will you let Him?

When you do, you can rejoice with Christ: "When He sees all that is accomplished by His anguish, He will be satisfied." (Is. 53: 11)

Let Jesus, who knows pain, walk with you on this path of healing. He understands... He loves you, and will always turn your curses into blessings!
